Jinnah has been unnecessarily demonized. He was a great man and not wholly responsible for the Partition of the subcontinent.

Pandit Nehru was primarily responsible for the Partition because he believed in a centralized India which left no space for the Muslims to protect themselves against Hindu domination.
Mahatma Gandhi, and other Congress leaders were opposed to the Partition and would not have allowed it if it were not for Nehru.
The view about Nehru's role in the Partition is not new. This scribe wrote about it in a book of just 107 text pages, not over 600 pages, which were published twenty years ago. Others, such as former ADC to Lord Mountbatten and later India's ambassador abroad, Narendra Singh Sarila, wrote on the subject of the Partition at greater length. Let us consider the three main postulates of Jaswant Singh's views outlined above.
Jinnah was not a "great" man. He was articulate, highly intelligent and focused. He missed greatness by a wide margin because he willingly colluded with the British to create a Pakistan about which he had not even determined boundaries or shape. He mainly fulfilled British goals while satisfying his own vanity. Independence came first; the boundaries of the divided nations came later. The British had decided on Partition to serve their own strategic ends. On 29 March 1945, after Viceroy Lord Wavell met Prime Minister Churchill in London he recorded: "He (Churchill) seems to favor partition of India into Pakistan, Hindustan and Princestan." Sir Martin Gilbert, the British biographer of Winston Churchill revealed that Churchill had asked Jinnah to dispatch secret letters to him by addressing them to a lady, Elizabeth Giliat, who had been Churchill's secretary. This secret interaction continued for years. Jinnah's key decisions between 1940 and 1946, including the demand for Pakistan in 1940, were taken after getting the nod from Churchill or Lord Linlithgow and Wavell, both Churchill's admirers. Jinnah admitted during the Simla Conference in 1945 that he was receiving advice from London. In other words, Jinnah was as much the British puppet on a string as were the top Indian leaders.
Yes, Pandit Nehru was primarily responsible for the Partition. This was not because he was emotionally committed to a centralized India but because he too was thoroughly programmed by the British since his school days. His proximity to Lord Mountbatten has been recorded by Maulana Abul Kalam Azad and historian Shashi Joshi among others. Even before Mountbatten's arrival in India Lord Wavell had complained that Nehru was often informed by Whitehall before he was!
Mahatma Gandhi and other Congress leaders may have been unhappy about the Partition. They did not oppose it. When the resolution to accept Partition was taken by the Congress on June 3, 1947 Gandhi observed his day of silence. He assured Mountbatten on June 2 that he would not oppose Partition. It can be nobody's case that Nehru was so powerful that he could override Gandhi and the rest. The truth was that Gandhi lacked the gumption to oppose Partition when it came to the crunch because he knew that his adversary was not Nehru but Britain. At Mountbatten's bidding he could undertake a fast unto death to compel the Indian government to pay adequate compensation to Pakistan. He made no such protest when his life's work of creating a united independent India was being destroyed. Gandhi's belated attempt to undo his mistake by wanting to settle in Pakistan and by demanding the dissolution of the Congress in his last will and testament was aborted by his death.
These judgments may appear cruel. Truth is seldom kind. Any assessment about the causes that led to the Partition of India would be flawed unless the central role of the British in creating it and the compliant role of the Indian and Pakistani leaders in accepting it are recognized. The most clinching evidence of this is provided by the recorded views of Christopher Beaumont who was private secretary to Sir Cyril Radcliffe, chairman of the Indo-Pakistan Boundary Commission. His private papers were recently released by his son, Robert Beaumont. The elder Beaumont wrote in 1947: "The viceroy, Mountbatten, must take the blame - though not the sole blame - for the massacres in the Punjab in which between 500,000 to a million men, women and children perished…The handover of power was done too quickly." Christopher Beaumont was most scathing about how partition affected the Punjab. He wrote: "The Punjab partition was a disaster… Geography, canals, railways and roads all argued against dismemberment… The trouble was that Muslims, Hindus and Sikhs were an integrated population so that it was impossible to make a frontier without widespread dislocation… Thousands of people died or were uprooted from their homes in what was in effect a civil war… By the end of 1947 there were virtually no Hindus or Sikhs living in west Punjab - now part of Pakistan - and no Muslims in the Indian east… The British government and Mountbatten must bear a large part of the blame for this tragedy."
A few Britons are beginning to confront the truth. Will Indians ever start doing the same?

So the lies & the misinformation campaign continues unchallenged for the most. But the issues raised by the PM are of immense significance to the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks & for those of us who have been challenging the state & the police version.
Yesterday we had the papers screaming out the headlines where we had PM Manmohan Singh saying the following:
1) "There is credible information about ongoing plans of terrorists in Pakistan to carry out fresh attacks".
2) That the threat "covers all parts of the country".
3) That the warning was based on "intercepts & chatter among top terrorists leaders including 26/11 accused & front ranking LeT opeartives Lakhvi, Zarar Shah & Abu al Qama".
4) The PM also refers to Let's local collaborators & the disarray within the Indian Mujahedeen.
All very good, I must say. The only point is that I wish the PM had made this speech by the end of Sepember or October or after November 19, 2008 when he & MK Narayanan (National Security Advisor) were given a comprehensive dossier by the RAW, which clearly pointed at the coming terror attack.
The PM should have told us that they had evidence in the form of taped conversations, including those very mentioned above. The PM should have told us that the RAW had tapped into their very satellite phones & we knew that an attack was coming.
For expample, by September 14, the RAW was aware of the specific targets & by September 18, even the timing, that the terrorists would strike Mumbai between 9-11pm was also known. Remarkably, a RAW spyplane was also photographing it as well, whilst it was following the Al-Husseini as it left from Karachi.
To me it clearly appears that this entire operation was being monitored !! Dosen't it to you as well ??
And they call it 'intelligence failure' !! What a shame & a sham !!
The PM should have told us that our new found friends in the CIA had also warned us in September. Remarkably the CIA with its largest operation & operatives now based in Pakistan, did not inform the Pakistani political or military leadership or that of it's cronies in the ISI, whose salaries they pay !!
Recall the fact that Mahmud Ahmad, the then chief of the ISI had to resign from his job, why ?? because he had wire transferred $100,000/- to Muhammad Atta, the suppossed mastermind of the 9/11 terror attacks. Mahmud Ahmad is amongst the closest friends of George Tenet, who was then the chief of the CIA. On 9/11, Mahmud Ahmad was in D.C. sipping coffee with Tenet. That is how the CIA used it's ISI connections to plan, fund, employ, train & aid in the execution of 9/11.

Back to 26/11, the PM should have told us that they were following the 'chatter between Lakhvi & his terror operatives' over a period of 10 to 11 months prior to 26/11.
On the matter of sleeper cells of the LeT& local collaborator, the Manmohan Singh government & his Home Minister, Mr. Chidambaram would have us believe that the 10-12 terrorists who attacked Mumbai had no local help whatsoever. They arrived upon this conclusion a day after the attack was wound up.
Unbelievable but true !!
And all the secular liberals heaved a sigh of relief as then Muslims would not be rounded up in their thousands as was the case during the Mumbai Train terror attacks of July 11, 2006. (That was also the day when Israel attacked Lebanon . . . . . & that was not a coincidence)
Firstly no sane person believes in this country or the world over is willing to believe that a mere 10 to 12 people could resort to this sort of mayhem over 4 different centres & ward of the Indian security forces for 3 days. This is a big fabricated lie !! And the government continues to promote this absurd & nonsensical version.
In our studied estimation, this terror operation was waged by at least a minimum of 50-60 terrorists, who were part of this operation further aided by a team of local collaborators.
This is elementary - my dear PM . . . . or to whomsoever it may concern . . . !!
The PM also refers to "local cells of the LeT". Now comes the interesting part.
The Manmohan Singh regime has maintained that there was no local cells active during the entire 26/11 terror attack. And now he tells us that that local cells, who are in a disarray because of the crackdown after 26/11 are a threat.
So Mr. PM, just three questions:
a) Were the local sleeper cells not around prior to 26/11, or have they appeared after the event ??
b) If they were there, would not they have helped in the entire 26/11 episode, especially prior to the attack ??
c) Or were the sleeper cells 'sleeping' or maybe 'hibernating' during this period ??
In our assessment & again this is simple to discern, the terrorists had local collaborator cells, without which this operation would have been impossible, both from the perspective of local intelligence & the logistics required at every step.
Then who constituted these cells is the moot point.
Our inference leads us to believe that the local help emerged from both
A) The sleeper cells of the Abhinav Bharat terror network, that includes their sympathizers across the security spectrum.
B) From the entire network of private security agency operatives trained by the Israeli MOSSAD & they number in a few lakhs.
And thus the conspiracy of silence !!
The point is that, like the American people & their intelligentsia who have successfully challenged the 'conspiracy theory of their governments' on the 9/11-WTC attack, we to need to wake up & challenge our Sarkar & it's perfidious lies. (A dozen Arab guys with box cutters, hijacked the planes & even though they could barely fly Cessna's, they maneuvered their Jumbo's into the towers, give me a break or maybe a better conspiracy theory)
Clearly the Manmohan regime is not only lying but also hiding certain facts that can lead us to uncovering the 26/11 terror plot. If not, then at least the government should have released the 'Ram Prahdhan Committee Report' to the general public & the media for our perusal. Even this report with it's very limited mandate has been buried under the burden of 'national security'.
As we have repeatedly stated, the findings of the Interpol are very important. But who is invited to the Indian courts to give evidence - the F.B.I. !! And not a whimper of protest from any quarter. The politics & strategy of deploying & orchestrating false flag terror ops, has neutralised many a mind into challenging the collusion of the state with Imperialist organizations such as the CIA, FBI or the MOSSAD for that matter.
The Interpol has mentioned that the 26/11 terror attacks were planned across 7 countries. The Interpol also complained that the Indian authorities were not very forthcoming in sharing intelligence inputs. I wonder why ??, actually I do not !!
Seven & not one or two, Mr. PM.
And the PM & Mr. Chidambaram continue to deny the need for a "National Judicial Commission of Inquiry into the Mumbai 26/11 Terror Attacks".
This sort of manipulation was not even indulged Mr. Bush (of the Shoe fame).
Even at the time, when Mr. Richard Holbrooke (a Hillary Neocon) was last down in New Delhi, Manmohan was out there blaring away that 30 Taliban had entered Kashmir. At the very same time his very Home Minister Chidambaram, as well as the Chief Minister of J&K Mr. Omar Abdullah were denying the same on the basis of 'intelligence reports'.
The fact is that our PM is a seasoned liar and he is far more Obama-like than even Obama.
He & the leading members of the cabinet are ideologically committed to the American-Israeli-European project for the region & India has been reduced to a junior partner in the Imperial gameplan for the region.
Instead of challenging the Empire & it's growing presence in South Asia & all of Asia, we are collaborating with their designs to redraw the strategic map of Asia, one in which the US & it's allies seek to dominate in every sphere of our existence.
Both Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru as well as Indira Gandhi must be shedding tears as they see their nation betraying the Third World and sitting in the White Anglo-Saxon Zionist camp.
Thus the need for a sustained national struggle against the Imperialist onslaught on the Asian nations, in solidarity with the peoples of Africa & South America.
In any case the truth will prevail, it always does, it takes time, but it always does.

Can Jinnah save a desperate BJP?
The Congress win and BJP led NDA's humiliating defeat in the last Lok Sabha elections, has created such a turmoil in the party ranks, that all the chintan baithaks around the country, is yet to give any semblance of internal order in Hindutva's leadership ranks. The diehard ideological bosses at RSS are loath to show any compromise or weakness in diluting its exclusion of Muslim plank, for any electoral breakthrough. Those BJP leaders voicing their opinion in public to garner support for their opposition to inbuilt flaws that ensures BJP failures to concoct a majority that rule the country, are visibly sidelined.
Now Jaswant Singh, the newly elected BJP MP from Assam, has thrown his hat in the ring, by coming out, once again, with public secularization of Pakistan's founder, Mohammad Ali Jinnah, so that a broader section of the voters, mainly gullible Muslims may be worked on, to ensure renewal of electoral fortunes for the BJP with that crucial Muslim marginal voting that incidentally catapulted Congress to the second term at the helm of affairs at the Center.
Global strategic developments are forcing India's hand over its relations with Pakistan. Jaswant Singh's initiative on Jinnah is shrewdly timed to court Muslim both here as well as in Pakistan. However, it is difficult for Muslim both here as well as abroad, to treat BJP/RSS combine as something other than the destroyer of Babri Masjid. The wound on Muslim psyche here as well as in the neighbourhood, is so deep, that any mention of BJP, RSS, and Hindutva instantly opens raw wounds. The Muslim hurt and Hindutva's narrow fascist agenda for their Idea of India, is no longer only a private local affair, but has been on the agenda of various global strategists as to how, this weakness of India should be exploited. The Chinese Think Tank analyst that last week laid out China's options in balkanization of India, into 20, 30 states, has gleefully welcomed Hindutva's Idea of India, as contracting India to a very small territory and leaving the rest for others to seek freedom from the Brahminical stranglehold.
Under such circumstance, Jaswant Singh's attempt to secularize Jinnah and sell him to Indians, both Hindus and Muslims, as the prodigal son fit to be welcomed back in to the fold, will be an exercise ending in futility, as the old divide had taken different dimensions and more powerful interlocutors have already staked their claims.
Another dimension that Jaswant may or may not have tackled in his book, is how Churchill, Lord Wavell and Jinnah operated a secret line of communication after Wavell apparently agreed to Churchill's suggestion that some part of the subcontinent has to be kept for the West, to counter Russian advances towards its south and to ensure safety and security of Gulf oil badly required for European reconstruction, after the Second World War. The turn of fortune for Jinnah has not come about like some magic. It was at the initiative of the British and USA, working in tandem that sealed the future of India as a divided nation. Jinnah's role was merely as facilitator for the British game plan, in the Great Game. It is ironical that Jaswant Singh, himself released the book: The Untold Story of India's partition researched, written and published by Narendra Singh Sarila, one of Jaswant Singh's own clan. All the material exposing the roles of the major part players was available to Jaswant Singh. Still that he has chosen to court the ghost of Jinnah amply exposes his and Sangh Parivar's utter desperation.

Jinnah 'demonised' by India, says Jaswant

NEW DELHI: Senior BJP leader Jaswant Singh has said Pakistan's founder Mohammad Ali Jinnah was "demonised" by India, though it was Jawaharlal Nehru whose belief in a centralised system that led to the Partition.
Mr. Singh, whose book 'Jinnah-India, Partition, Independence' will be released tomorrow, said Indian Muslims were treated as aliens. "Oh yes, because he created something out of nothing and single-handedly he stood up against the might of the Congress and the British who didn't really like him... Gandhi himself called Jinnah a great Indian. Why don't we recognise that? Why don't we see [and try to understand], why he called him that," he said, when asked by Karan Thapar in an interview whether he viewed Jinnah as a great man.
The former External Affairs Minister said India had misunderstood Jinnah and made a demon out of him. Contrary to popular perception, Mr. Singh said, it was not Jinnah, but Jawaharlal Nehru's "highly centralised polity" led to the Partition.
Mr. Singh contested the popular Indian view that Jinnah was the villain of Partition or the man principally responsible for it.
Maintaining that this view was wrong, he said: "It is not borne out by facts...We need to correct it." He reckoned that Jinnah's call for Pakistan was "a negotiating tactic" to obtain "space" for Muslims "in a reassuring system," in which they would not be dominated by the Hindu majority.
If the final decisions had been taken by Mahatma Gandhi, Rajaji or Maulana Azad, rather than Nehru, a united India would have been attained, he said.
Mr. Singh said the widespread opinion that Jinnah was against Hindus was mistaken.
When told that his views might not be to his party's liking, he replied: "I did not write this book as a BJP parliamentarian. I wrote this book as an Indian... this is not a party document. My party knows I have been working on this."
Mr. Singh also spoke about Indian Muslims who, he said, "have paid the price of Partition." In a particularly outspoken answer, he said India treated them as "aliens." "Look at the eyes of the Muslims who live in India, and if you truly see the pain with which they live, to which land do they belong? We treat them as aliens... without doubt, Muslims have paid the price of Partition. They could have been significantly stronger in a united India... Of course, Pakistan and Bangladesh won't like what I am saying."
Mr. Singh says in his book that Pakistan's "induced" sense of hostility to New Delhi was now somewhat "mellowed," and it was ready to accept a greater understanding of the many oneness that bound it with India. However, he admits that Pakistan had chosen terror as an instrument of state policy to be used as a tool of oppression.
"...nemesis had to visit upon such policy planks; that malevolent energy of terror, by whatever name you choose to call it, once unleashed had to turn back upon its creator and begin devouring it," he writes. "This has now converted Pakistan into the an epicentre of global terrorism, sadly, therefore, Talibanisation now eats into the very vitals of Pakistan."
"...after emerging as a new country, Pakistan now has a much greater and sharpened sense of its 'Pakistanness,' a more enhanced consciousness of it being a distinctly separate country from India, and not just in contra-distinction to India," Mr.Singh writes.
The "turbid sediment of our recent past, the agony of our blood encrusted Partition" continues to sour the present India-Pakistan ties. — PTI
