How the New York Times Twists Gaza

Relatives mourn Palestinian children killed in Israeli airstrike (photo: Wissam Nassar/NYT)
The New York Times published this photo of Palestinian women mourning children killed in an Israeli airstrike under the heading "Telling Blows Against Hamas." (photo: Wissam Nassar/NYT)
Though it has faded somewhat from the headlines, Israel's war on Gaza is still going on, with a round of airstrikes that killed dozens this week.  And how was this reported in the New York Times? As Hamas breaking a cease-fire agreement.

Jodi Rudoren's dispatch (8/21/14) begins with a rather astonishing lead:
Hamas is the party that keeps extending this summer's bloody battle in the Gaza Strip, repeatedly breaking temporary truces and vowing to endlessly fire rockets into Israel until its demands are met.
The idea that it has been Hamas that has "repeatedly" broken cease-fire agreements is deeply misleading. An August 1 agreement, for instance, broke down under disputed circumstances (FAIR Blog, 8/6/14), with Hamas claiming that its attack on Israeli soldiers inside Gaza came before the cease-fire was to start. The Israeli reaction was a massive attack on Rafah that killed dozens.

But declaring Hamas to be the party that rejects good faith efforts to stop the fighting is common (Electronic Intifada, 7/15/14), while little attention is paid to Hamas offers of a cease-fire or truce, one of which came very early in the war (Mondoweiss, 7/16/14).  And when there is evidence that Israel has violated a new cease-fire agreement–as was the case on August 4–media reports do their best to obscure this fact (FAIR Blog, 8/6/14).

On a more fundamental level, Israel's insistence on maintaining a blockade on Gaza is itself an act of war–meaning that most discussions about "ending" the conflict are really about how to extend a state of war against Gaza.

As is often the case, what caused this week's breakdown is in dispute. As the Guardian reported (8/19/14):
Israel accused Hamas of violating the latest of a series of temporary ceasefires after rockets were launched from Gaza, triggering a swift military and political response. More than 25 airstrikes hit Gaza in response to rocket fire, killing a woman and a two-year-old girl, and wounding at least 15 others in Gaza City.
The paper added: "The Hamas spokesman in Gaza, Sami Abu Zuhri, denied knowledge of the rocket fire which Israel said had breached the truce."

Whatever the immediate cause, the effect has been another round of devastating attacks. But in the Times, not only was Hamas to blame, but they also wanted readers to know that this round of attacks was especially careful:
In contrast to the earlier phase of the war, Israel this week deployed its extensive intelligence capabilities and overwhelming firepower in targeted bombings with limited civilian casualties less likely to raise the world's ire.
Jodi Rudoren, on Facebook Jodi Rudoren
Now, it's theoretically possible to make the argument that when compared to a month of attacks that killed 2,000 people, the majority of them civilians, this latest round of attacks is less deadly. But the piece itself presents plenty of evidence that civilians are still being killed. In describing an attack on the home of Hamas military leader Mohammed Deif, the Times reports:
Mr. Deif's fate remained unknown Thursday, though the body of his 3-year-old daughter, Sara, was recovered from the rubble of the Gaza City home where five one-ton bombs also killed Mr. Deif's wife, baby son and at least three others.
This was not the only such incident. As Rudoren reported:
Several of Thursday's attacks targeted men on motorcycles or in cars who Israel said were militants, though Palestinian witnesses also reported that five people, three of them children, were killed while watering a Gaza City garden, and five others while digging a grave in the Sheikh Radwan cemetery.
Instead of dwelling on this, the paper felt the need to reiterate that this was "a limited air campaign" that was avoiding "the large-scale collateral damage that has provoked international outrage." That assessment, in the reporter's own voice, stands in contrast to this: "The Gaza Health Ministry said Israeli airstrikes had killed at least 60 people since the collapse on Tuesday of cease-fire negotiations in Cairo."

One could just as easily write a piece about how a terrified and suffering civilian population has found itself facing another round of attacks, with dozens of new deaths in a matter of a couple of days.  But that's not the story the Times wanted to tell. It wanted to let readers know that the new attacks are all Hamas' fault–but that Israel is being especially precise this time around.

  1. Any minute now, the trolls from the Lame Stream Media shall wander and 'defend' Israeli by claiming we are just making this all up.
Have we considered the possibility that the Israeli Government is simply following our lead, like Baby Doggy attacking (Gaza) when Daddy Doggy attacks the others in the middle east with drone strikes.
  2. Israel has been precise throughout this attack, just as it has for decades.
Its aim has been to destroy any chance for the Palestinian people to live in dignity
Or, for so many, to simply live.
In that, it's been dead on target, hasn't it?

  3. Jeff
Pieces like the New York times wrote on this make reporters less safe by militants abroad.

  4. The lead by Jodi Roudan will go down as one of the worst journalistic leads in the history of NY Times. Now instead of being taught as a professional newspaper, NYtimes will be taught in the category of how not to do a lea

Sixty-five years of expulsion and dispossession from Israel's initial borders, 47 years of military occupation, hundreds of assassinations from the air and by other means, missiles and artillery attacking civilians, destruction of vital water and electrical installations, consistent violations of ceasefires and massive over-reactions by the blockading power …

But forget all that. The New York Times blames the victim for resisting, however feebly. The paper has updated the old saw about journalism's job: not just to come down from the hills after the battle and shoot the wounded, but coordinate propaganda attacks with the most powerful military aggressor — against the most vulnerable.
Speaking half-truths for power. Could anything be different among the propaganda organs — oops, media — of the world's remaining military superpower?

  6. You are correct of course, NYT does much to support the Israeli cause. But I disagree with your suggestion that Israel is being more precise this time round.
Instead they are getting closer to their overall objective. See my article Israel wins, Gaza and Hamas Lose, part on my website

Hart's latest piece is misleading for any number of reasons. Here are a few:
    1. For years Hart has blasted Israel for having the audacity to defend itself. Of course civilian casualties have been an unfortunate product of Israel's wars of self-defense, as in any war. In an August 12 article, Hart finally acknowledged what most would consider a truism, "Wars kill people, many of them civilians. That much we know for sure." But now Hart is back to his old tricks, attempting to indict Israel merely because "civilians are still being killed."
    2. Of course the reason the war has resumed, and so civilians are again inevitably suffering, is that Hamas broke the cease-fire. Hart doesn't deny this, but claims that maybe Israel broke a cease-fire in the past. However, this question is ultimately irrelevant because, according to Hart, any cease-fire is really about "how to extend a state of war against Hamas." In other words, Israel is evil if it breaks a cease-fire, and Israel is evil if it does not.
    3. Hart makes much of Hamas' offer of a 10-year truce. What he fails to mention is that Hamas made it clear that this "truce" was not meant to be a peace agreement, but merely a prelude to battle, the purpose of which is to destroy Israel. Not surprising, given that Hamas' charter explicitly calls for the destruction of Israel and genocide against the Jews.

    4. Most embarrassing for Hart is that he insisted that Hamas, choir boys that they are, had nothing to do with the kidnapping of the 3 Israeli teenagers that triggered the current conflict. Now that Hamas has taken credit for the kidnapping, Hart will do anything to draw attention away from this inconvenient fact – hence the idiotic article above.
."Not long ago Hart opening an article by pointing out that civilians die in any conflict. Here he

Mid East, South East. Ukraine and Russia, or you can say, in the most part of the world, always human is killing human, using the fame of humanity, to secure the future of human. Do we have any other opportunity for the human existing under the shadow of Nuclear Weapons?
The world leadership and the U N body are just leaping with this lethal issue for their political beneficence. The lading religious foundations are already embroiled in the mazes of their own religious definitions. So it doesn’t mean that we should not try to reach a “unanimous conclusion” of these most complicated issues.
Changes are the essential part of the Natural process, and our leadership is an embodiment of our perception that navigates our life according to their ethics that helps them to lead their community or sect professionally
So I have started the petition "A policy for United Nation, to save our existence from the destructive war, by the unification of all the religious definitions within scientific insight and history" and needs your help to get it off the ground.
Will you take 30 seconds to sign it right now?
    Here's the link:

    Here's why it's important
The dark aspects of our scientific achievements (Destructive Weapons), the contemporary political issues of the world and the weaknesses of current world leadership do not have the potential to uproot the basis of terrorism and prevent the wars based on religious conflicts in the Middle East. Currently humanity is divided by religious boundaries and political issues. Though our scientific achievements have already brought us close to each other, we are far away from understanding the facts that separate our existence. Even now we are living under the shadow of Nuclear weapons all over the world as a result of nuclear proliferation.

Thus, it is important for all peoples of this world, to promote the sources that bring science and theology together for the unification of our perception in one idea, to perpetuate the path to peace. I have designed a simple method in a literary form, to tackle the complexities of this issue. Now it’s the prime responsibility of the world literate community to raise new hopes by working towards a common citizenship of all peoples and all faiths that is based on social responsibility and global solidarity. This is the most urgent contemporary need and most important issue of this current period.

    William,
How does an occupying entity "defend" itself? That defies all logic!

  10. Truthwillout
So I am amazed that rational people as you seem to be can simply side with an organisation whose declared intention is to eradicate a nation state and it's people( Jews, or presumably all Arab Israelis as collaborators, and infidels). Where is your moral compass? You should be ashamed of yourselves. And read your history. Israel pulled out of Gaza in 2005. What did that achieve. Gaza launching war on Israel. You reap what you sow. Grow up people. There are other causes you can harrumph about if you enjoy your pious wankjobs, but siding with an organised crime entity like Hamas just makes you come across a bit thick

  11. Darius Sarrafi
    @Truthwillout
The same can be said about you for backing an illegitimate state that has been artificially built on indigenous people of Palestine's land based on a supposed 5000 year old promise from the greatest real estate agent of all (god). A state that has been occupying and ethnically cleansing the rightful residents of that land for decades in defiance of several UN resolutions.

Depraved indifference on the part of the press.

    FAIR EXCLUSIVE – HAMAS CHARTER!!
Top reasons Hamas has failed to amend its genocidal charter:
    1. Too busy lobbing missiles at Israel's civilian population.
    2. Stiff competition from up-and-coming Islamic terrorists like ISIS.
    3. Can't figure out how to soft-pedal genocidal intentions.
    4. Can't find any new quotes from the Protocols of the Elders of Zion.
    5. Apparently somebody already wrote Mein Kampf.
    6. The existing charter has that line about the stones and trees demanding that Jews be killed. How can you top that?

  14. Bob Walton
What's "fair" about Peter Hart pillorying Israel for 2K Gazan deaths that occurred because HAMAS, GAZA's army, likes to launch rockets at Israel from the yards of civilian homes, hospitals and mosques while virtually ignoring 200K dead Syrian Muslims who died at the hands of other Syrian Muslims. It's FAIR for MUSLIMS to kill other MUSLIMS but unfair when Israelis kill muslims to protect themselves.

  15. it is fascinating to see presumably sane people explaining away the brutality with which Israel is deliberately murdering women and children in Gaza on the grounds of self defence. here is a brief list of their targets:
    schools
    universities
    hospitals
    medical clinics
most if not all of the overseas currency earning factories
    the only cardboard box factory
    fishing boats
    the Electricity generating plant
    the water distribution system
    sewerage
crops and arable land and olive trees
    municipality buildings
    the emergency phone call system
    mosques
    houses and apartments
    shops
    roads
    ambulances
Israel's secondary purpose was to target people as well. The concept behind this was to undermine the popular support of Hamas. Even now that goal seems to have eluded Israel. But they have killed and wounded thousands.
    whole families
    women and children
    individuals by snipe fire
    prominent people in Gaza
    parliamentarians
and of course “officials” associated with Hamas in any capacity

  16. William
Peter, I see you write doggerel about the Palestinians. I have an idea for your next masterpiece!
You could wax eloquent about Kassem Shabir – he received praise from Abbas and a special stipend from the Palestinian Authority. His great accomplishment? Murdering a Holocaust survivor with an ax.
I'm sure you can find a way to make him out to be an epic hero!
  17. debra mcdaniel
To truthwillout…having compassion for Palestinians has nothing to do with feelings toward Hamas. Israeli supporters try to conflate empathy for Paletinians with support for Hamas. I have nothing but contempt for the right wing Zionists that have pushed for genocide but that doesn't mean I dislike all Jews. Talking about Hamas while including the civilian Palestinians as all being evil is disingenuous but the media buys and reports whatever the Israeli government says without question. I' so tired of hearing the same bullshit from Netanyahu every time he violates international human rights laws. He has more economical excuses as to why it is necessary to KILL Palestinian civilians and how he isn't targeting them. Everyone knows this is propaganda to keep our government from having to admit they are backing yet one more repressive government that breaks international laws The U.S. even breaks its own laws for the criminal country Israel. We should not be giving weapons to a country where users them against civilian populations.. But hey anything for the Zionists, right?

  20. In today's military approach to conflict, missile and drone strikes are now judge, jury and executioner. We read endless reports of strikes on "suspected" militants, but does anyone really know? And does it even matter if a hammer is the solution to every problem? And if you happen to live or be near where the hammer strikes, pray that you are not caught up in the collateral damage.
Of course the US is no better. We save our troops by conducting joystick combat missions. And then we wonder why the Middle East hates the West, or why it is so easy for militant organizations to recruit members.
Part of what's so dangerous about this kind of warfare is that it's almost impossible to record what "progress", if any, is made toward a mission's goal. How do you measure militants killed when you aren't even sure who you're targeting?

I subscribe to two European channels on my cable television, TV5 (French) and Deutsche Welle (German). Both channels show graphic pictures of the destruction wrought by Israeli attacks on Gaza. I see whole blocks leveled. From what I can tell, it does not appear that Israel is making much of an effort to avoid civilian casualties. The European channels, by the way, present a much less flattering picture of the Israeli attacks than you see on American television.
  22. Darius Sarrafi
People who still buy into the idea that Hamas, Al Qaeda, IS, etc. are terrorists buy into the idea that people who are defending their land against colonialist occupiers are somehow evil.
We may not like their ideology, but they are doing exactly what we would if we were occupied by outside bullies. Islam is often used as a unifying ideology in that region because Jihad ("struggle" for justice) is one of its principles that is taken seriously and practiced by the zealots (like Europeans did with Christianity in the medieval era). This is why any resistance in the Muslim world takes the form of fundamental Islam.
It would be a cold day in hell before this argument becomes part of public discourse on the liberal/leftist media, let alone the MSM.
  23. William Fuller
I hope the author is not surprised by what she reads in the NYT. The NYT is a propaganda machine for Israel. That is the truth and anyone who reads its editorials for the past few years will see that. Now the religious fanatics will howl and scream anti-Semitism at anyone who fails to defend Israel at all times. Fact: there is no independent U.S. media. There is only the Israel First media. No? When is it not?
  24. The American media from its inception were one sided even during the native American tried to stave off the genocide of 43million of their brothers and sisters the media were on the side of the aggressors and in Vietnam/ Iraq the directive was shoot anything that moves.

The Jewish Zionist have learned this from the Nazis as well as the Hutu's in Rwanda.

Why Aren't ISIS and Al-Qaeda Attacking Israel?

Dees Illustration

Brandon Turbeville
Activist Post

With the recent slaughter of Palestinians taking place on television screens across the world, only the grossly misinformed would believe that Israel’s Palestinian extermination program is actually “self-defense.”

Yet for all of Israel’s whining about how it is being targeted by “Islamic extremists” and “terrorists,”(which should be translated to mean Palestinians, Iran, or any other secular or nationalist Arab government in the region) there is a curious and deafening silence when it is confronted with actual terrorists and Muslim fanatics such as ISIS, al-Nusra, and the myriad of other fundamentalist groups waging jihad in Syria and Iraq.

This bizarre silence has yet to raise the eyebrows of the somnambulant general public.

Of course, Israel’s lack of concern regarding legitimate terrorist groups is not bizarre at all when one understands the perspective and goals held by the settler state toward its neighbors in the region or its connections to the very groups who espouse Israel as their number one enemy.

But while Israel does not respond with its usual apoplectic frothing of victimhood and danger regarding these terrorist groups that have now so infested the Middle East as to make the entire region a general war zone, it is important to point out that these same terrorist groups do not launch coordinated military attacks in Tel Aviv, they launch them in Damascus and Mosul – cities belonging to secular nations seen by Israel as the enemy.

The question then is “Why?” Why does Israel not share the concern it has over Palestinians, Iranians, Syrians, and Lebanese with al-Nusra, ISIS, and al-Qaeda? Why do these groups wage jihad against Israel’s enemies but not against Israel itself?

Indeed, this curious fact was also raised by Nabil Na’eem, the former al-Qaeda commander who recently gave an interview to Al-Maydeen where he stated that these organizations of Islamic terror were in fact controlled by the CIA. Na’eem stated in regards to Issam Hattito,
For instance, Issam Hattito, head of Muslim Brotherhood responsible for leading the battles against Bashar Assad, where does he reside? Is he in Beirut? Riyadh or Cairo? He’s residing in Tel Aviv.
Ahmad Jarba, does he stay in Riyadh, Cairo or Tehran? He’s moving between New York, Paris and London, his employers, who pay his expenses . . .
Na’eem is right to point out these odd bedfellows because it provides one small piece of a larger puzzle – that Israel, along with its cohorts in the West (the United States and Europe) are not victims of Islamic terror, they are sponsors of it.

From providing medical aid, military training, and outright military assistance, the so-called state of Israel has been a much better friend to Muslim terrorists than any of the regimes it claims as its enemy.

For instance, it has been well-known for quite some time that Israel has been providing wounded Syrian rebels with medical treatment inside Israel so that they can continue the Jihad against the secular government of Bashar al-Assad. According to Colum Lynch of The Cable (the news wing of the Council on Foreign Relations Foreign Policy),
In the past three months, battle-hardened Syrian rebels have transported scores of wounded Syrians across a cease-fire line that has separated Israel from Syria since 1974, according to a 15-page report by U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on the work of the U.N. Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF). Once in Israel, they receive medical treatment in a field clinic before being sent back to Syria, where, presumably, some will return to carry on the fight.

U.N. blue helmets responsible for monitoring the decades-old cease-fire report observing armed opposition groups "transferring 89 wounded persons" from Syrian territory into Israel, where they were received by members of the Israel Defense Forces, according to the report. The IDF returned 21 Syrians to armed opposition members back in Syria, including the bodies of two who died.
Later in the article, the writer mentions the fact that Israel has provided such medical assistance to Syrian rebels since at least as far back as February. Realistically, however, such assistance was being provided even further back. Lynch writes that Israel provided the medical treatment for at least a year.

Indeed, in February, 2014, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu actually visited one of the medical facilities in which the Syrian rebels were being treated and even posed for a photo op shaking hands with a death squad fighter.

More notable than even the medical services, is the fact that Israel has provided military support to the terrorist death squads in the form of artillery and air force bombing campaigns. These attacks have generally come after the Assad government seems to be making considerable gains on the ground against the Western-backed fighters.

For instance, on October 30, 2013, Israel attacked and completely destroyed a Syrian air defense base in Snobar Jableh, Syria which is located near Latakia, a port city on the coast of the Mediterranean. The base was alleged to have housed a surface to air missile battery.

Of course, this was not the only time where Israel inflicted an injury against the enemies of Islamic extremists during the course of the Syrian conflict. It is known that Israel launched attacks against Syrian forces and military convoys at least four times prior to the October 30 attack.

As recently as June, 2014, Israel launched a series of airstrikes against Syrian military positions under the pretext of retaliation for a cross-border attack which was almost certainly initiated by death squad fighters whose logistical inadequacy spilled over into Israeli occupied territory in the Golan Heights. Given the questionable circumstances surrounding the justifying incident – the killing of yet another Israeli teenager by an alleged anti-tank missile – one would be justified in questioning the Israeli story.

While the occasional attack on Syrian territory is bad enough, the fact is that Israel has apparently coordinated these attacks with the death squad directors on the ground so as to provide cover fire and diversions for death squad “swarming” and jihadist invasions.

For instance, in May 2013, WABC host and best-selling author Aaron Klein stated that an Israeli airstrike in Syria was closely coordinated with Turkey which, in turn, helped coordinate the death squad attacks to occur at the exact same time as the Israeli airstrikes. The sources speaking to Klein came from Jordanian and Egyptian intelligence agencies.

Klein wrote,
Israel’s air strike in Syria today was coordinated with Turkey, which in turn coordinated rebel attacks throughout Syria timed to coincide with the Israeli strike, according to Egyptian and Jordanian intelligence sources speaking to KleinOnline. The sources said the rebels did not know about the Israeli strike in advance but instead were given specific instructions for when to begin today’s major assaults against the regime of President Bashar al-Assad. “Almost the moment the Israel Air Force departed was the moment the rebel advance began,” added the Egyptian intelligence source. Multiple reports have noted how the Syrian rebels consist in large part of al-Qaida-linked jihad groups. The Egyptian and Jordanian sources described how immediately after today’s Israeli air strike the jihadist rebels used access roads to advance toward Damascus and began heavy clashes with Syrian military forces throughout the country.
Israel was even documented in 2011 as hosting and directing a terrorist mercenary training camp inside the country in order to produce mercenaries tailor-made to be used in the Arab world.

What’s more, the Israeli establishment does not seem to feel the need to hide its support for terrorism which, in this specific instance, tends to take the form of mercenaries. Indeed, the Israeli terrorist trainers actually appear to be quite open about their efforts.

In a 2011 report conducted by The Media Line,[1] an international news organization which focuses on the Middle East, Arieh O’Sullivan was able to film an Israeli-run terrorist mercenary training camp, complete with interviews, on-scene narration, and ample video footage of actual training taking place.

As the report begins, one can see a multicultural group of men –Arabs, Africans, Europeans, etc. – dressed in typical Arab clothing, riding camels, and taking part in tactical training.

“The men on these camels have been training for the past week to operate in the Arab world,” O’Sullivan says. “They dress as Arabs, even take a ride on a desert Ferrari [camel] and learn rudimentary phrases that will allow them to do their job. They have come to Israel to learn from former members of the country’s secret services.”

The report continues by saying,
On this training base, run by the International Security Academy Israel, they are tapping into Israel’s unique experience in dealing with these threats and learning counterterrorism techniques in convoy and [VIP? ] protection. The changes in the Middle East may be dubbed the Arab Spring but, to continue with another metaphor, it’s about to get hot.
Out here far away from prying eyes, a group of personal protection specialists have come to Israel to learn about the Israeli tactics. Their background is diverse – from police to military officers – even a former French Legionnaire. They will go on to work for governments and private security contractors.
In an interview with one of the “students,” the future mercenary stated, “Only the best can train here with the best. I have this feeling that I was . . . something like was bringing me here . . . something was like ‘Go. Go and do it now.’”

Another mercenary who was interviewed, stated, “Well, I learn a lot because Israel have bring up a standard of training that everyone in the world will have to emulate from them. And, with this, as I’m going back, I think I will take what I have learned in Israel, to impart on my fellow colleagues.”

The narrator then adds, “But it’s an expensive program, costing upwards of $2,000 Euros a week. But this can be a lucrative profession, earning thousands of Euros a day. Just don’t call them mercenaries.” Still, O’Sullivan ends by saying, “This line of work is one of the oldest in the world. Still, it seems like it is always in demand.”

A mercenary who appeared to be from Singapore, named Venky Raman, also chimed in. “Some of those dictatorships governments have fallen basically. And that’s going to create new chaos and confusion in the market. And that’s also going to create some instability in the market. So that’s why I think we’re getting more of these incidents and terrorist attacks and such going to happen.”

While the individuals seen in the clip mentioned above are largely mercenaries who train the dupes and deviants who take on the role as cannon fodder for Jihad, only engaging in limited combat operations themselves, it is clear the only allegiance they have is to the almighty dollar.

Ironically, however, the individuals who make up the bulk of death squad invasions across the Arab world – religious fanatics, savages, and the criminally insane – maintain an open hatred for Israel. That is, those death squad members at the bottom who are either ignorant of the fact that Israel itself is a major backer of their own movement or those wholly incapable of understanding anything other than what their faction leader has told them are caught somewhere between tragedy and farce.

Yet Israel is not only involved in directed and implementing Islamic terrorism in other countries. On its own soil, Israel has been documented as creating “fake” al-Qaeda groups to justify its treatment of the Palestinian people.

Israel’s arch nemesis, Hamas, was created by Israel itself for the purpose of splitting the PLO (Palestinian Liberation Organization) and Fatah, the leading outfit for the Palestinian freedom and resistance movement.

Robert Dreyfuss, a veteran journalist for The Nation, even wrote that,
In the decades before 9/11, hard-core activists and organizations among Muslim fundamentalists on the far right were often viewed as allies for two reasons, because they were seen a fierce anti-communists and because the opposed secular nationalists such as Egypt’s Gamal Abdel Nasser, Iran’s Mohammed Mossadegh.
***
In Syria, the United States, Israel, and Jordan supported the Muslim Brotherhood in a civil war against Syria. And … Israel quietly backed Ahmed Yassin and the Muslim Brotherhood in the West Bank and Gaza, leading to the establishment of Hamas.
As Justin Raimondo of AntiWar.com wrote in his 2006 article “Hamas, Son of Israel,”
Amid all the howls of pain and gnashing of teeth over the triumph of Hamas in the Palestinian elections, one fact remains relatively obscure, albeit highly relevant: Israel did much to launch Hamas as an effective force in the occupied territories. If ever there was a clear case of “blowback,” then this is it. As Richard Sale pointed out in a piece for UPI:
Israel and Hamas may currently be locked in deadly combat, but, according to several current and former U.S. intelligence officials, beginning in the late 1970s, Tel Aviv gave direct and indirect financial aid to Hamas over a period of years. Israel ‘aided Hamas directly – the Israelis wanted to use it as a counterbalance to the PLO (Palestinian Liberation Organization),’ said Tony Cordesman, Middle East analyst for the Center for Strategic [and International] Studies.Israel’s support for Hamas ‘was a direct attempt to divide and dilute support for a strong, secular PLO by using a competing religious alternative,’ said a former senior CIA official.
Middle East analyst Ray Hanania concurs:
In addition to hoping to turn the Palestinian masses away from Arafat and the PLO, the Likud leadership believed they could achieve a workable alliance with Islamic, anti-Arafat forces that would also extend Israel’s control over the occupied territories.
In a conscious effort to undermine the Palestine Liberation Organization and the leadership of Yasser Arafat, in 1978 the government of then-Prime Minister Menachem Begin approved the application of Sheik Ahmad Yassin to start a “humanitarian” organization known as the Islamic Association, or Mujama. The roots of this Islamist group were in the fundamentalist Muslim Brotherhood, and this was the seed that eventually grew into Hamas – but not before it was amply fertilized and nurtured with Israeli funding and political support.
It is important to note here that the Muslim Brotherhood, in addition to this close connection to the predecessor of Hamas and thus Mossad and other forms of Israeli intelligence, also contains close and historical ties to Western intelligence, most notably the British and the American versions.

With that in mind, Raimondo’s article continues by stating that,
Begin and his successor, Yitzhak Shamir, launched an effort to undercut the PLO, creating the so-called Village Leagues, composed of local councils of handpicked Palestinians who were willing to collaborate with Israel – and, in return, were put on the Israeli payroll. Sheik Yassin and his followers soon became a force within the Village Leagues. This tactical alliance between Yassin and the Israelis was based on a shared antipathy to the militantly secular and leftist PLO: the Israelis allowed Yassin’s group to publish a newspaper and set up an extensive network of charitable organizations, which collected funds not only from the Israelis but also from Arab states opposed to Arafat.
Ami Isseroff, writing on MideastWeb, shows how the Israelis deliberately promoted the Islamists of the future Hamas by helping them turn the Islamic University of Gaza into a base from which the group recruited activists – and the suicide bombers of tomorrow. As the only higher-education facility in the Gaza strip, and the only such institution open to Palestinians since Anwar Sadat closed Egyptian colleges to them, IUG contained within its grounds the seeds of the future Palestinian state. When a conflict arose over religious issues, however, the Israeli authorities sided with the Islamists against the secularists of the Fatah-PLO mainstream. As Isseroff relates, the Islamists
Encouraged Israeli authorities to dismiss their opponents in the committee in February of 1981, resulting in subsequent Islamisation of IUG policy and staff (including the obligation on women to wear the hijab and thobe and separate entrances for men and women), and enforced by violence and ostracization of dissenters. Tacit complicity from both university and Israeli authorities allowed Mujama to keep a weapons cache to use against secularists. By the mid 1980s, it was the largest university in occupied territories with 4,500 students, and student elections were won handily by Mujama.
Again, the motive was to offset Arafat’s influence and divide the Palestinians. In the short term, this may have worked to some extent; in the longer term, however, it backfired badly – as demonstrated by the results of the recent Palestinian election.
***
Israel’s relentless offensive against its perceived enemies – first Fatah, now Hamas and Islamic Jihad – has created a backlash and solidified support for fundamentalist extremist factions in the Palestinian community.
What Raimondo refers to as “backlash”, however, has revealed itself to be more of a cleverly written script designed to play out years later.

Still, The Wall Street Journal concurred with Raimondo’s analysis in an article published in 2009. In this article, entitled “How Israel Helped To Spawn Hamas,” Andrew Higgins wrote (my emphasis added),
"Hamas, to my great regret, is Israel's creation," says Mr. Cohen, a Tunisian-born Jew who worked in Gaza for more than two decades. Responsible for religious affairs in the region until 1994, Mr. Cohen watched the Islamist movement take shape, muscle aside secular Palestinian rivals and then morph into what is today Hamas, a militant group that is sworn to Israel's destruction.
Instead of trying to curb Gaza's Islamists from the outset, says Mr. Cohen, Israel for years tolerated and, in some cases, encouraged them as a counterweight to the secular nationalists of the Palestine Liberation Organization and its dominant faction, Yasser Arafat's Fatah. Israel cooperated with a crippled, half-blind cleric named Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, even as he was laying the foundations for what would become Hamas. Sheikh Yassin continues to inspire militants today; during the recent war in Gaza, Hamas fighters confronted Israeli troops with "Yassins," primitive rocket-propelled grenades named in honor of the cleric.
***
When Israel first encountered Islamists in Gaza in the 1970s and ’80s, they seemed focused on studying the Quran, not on confrontation with Israel. The Israeli government officially recognized a precursor to Hamas called Mujama Al-Islamiya, registering the group as a charity. It allowed Mujama members to set up an Islamic university and build mosques, clubs and schools. Crucially, Israel often stood aside when the Islamists and their secular left-wing Palestinian rivals battled, sometimes violently, for influence in both Gaza and the West Bank.
***
When it became clear in the early 1990s that Gaza’s Islamists had mutated from a religious group into a fighting force aimed at Israel — particularly after they turned to suicide bombings in 1994 — Israel cracked down with ferocious force. But each military assault only increased Hamas’s appeal to ordinary Palestinians. The group ultimately trounced secular rivals, notably Fatah, in a 2006 election supported by Israel’s main ally, the U.S.
***
In Gaza, Israel hunted down members of Fatah and other secular PLO factions, but it dropped harsh restrictions imposed on Islamic activists by the territory’s previous Egyptian rulers.
***
The Muslim Brotherhood, led in Gaza by Sheikh Yassin, was free to spread its message openly. In addition to launching various charity projects, Sheikh Yassin collected money to reprint the writings of Sayyid Qutb, an Egyptian member of the Brotherhood who, before his execution by President Nasser, advocated global jihad. He is now seen as one of the founding ideologues of militant political Islam.
Mr. Cohen, who worked at the time for the Israeli government’s religious affairs department in Gaza, says he began to hear disturbing reports in the mid-1970s about Sheikh Yassin from traditional Islamic clerics. He says they warned that the sheikh had no formal Islamic training and was ultimately more interested in politics than faith. “They said, ‘Keep away from Yassin. He is a big danger,’” recalls Mr. Cohen.
Instead, Israel’s military-led administration in Gaza looked favorably on the paraplegic cleric, who set up a wide network of schools, clinics, a library and kindergartens. Sheikh Yassin formed the Islamist group Mujama al-Islamiya, which was officially recognized by Israel as a charity and then, in 1979, as an association. Israel also endorsed the establishment of the Islamic University of Gaza, which it now regards as a hotbed of militancy.
***
Gen. Yitzhak Segev, who took over as governor in Gaza in late 1979, says he had no illusions about Sheikh Yassin’s long-term intentions or the perils of political Islam. As Israel’s former military attache in Iran, he’d watched Islamic fervor topple the Shah. However, in Gaza, says Mr. Segev, “our main enemy was Fatah,” and the cleric “was still 100% peaceful” towards Israel. Former officials say Israel was also at the time wary of being viewed as an enemy of Islam.
Mr. Segev says he had regular contact with Sheikh Yassin, in part to keep an eye on him. He visited his mosque and met the cleric around a dozen times. It was illegal at the time for Israelis to meet anyone from the PLO. Mr. Segev later arranged for the cleric to be taken to Israel for hospital treatment. “We had no problems with him,” he says.
In fact, the cleric and Israel had a shared enemy: secular Palestinian activists. After a failed attempt in Gaza to oust secularists from leadership of the Palestinian Red Crescent, the Muslim version of the Red Cross, Mujama staged a violent demonstration, storming the Red Crescent building. Islamists also attacked shops selling liquor and cinemas. The Israeli military mostly stood on the sidelines. [emphasis added]
***
A leader of Birzeit’s Islamist faction at the time was Mahmoud Musleh, now a pro-Hamas member of a Palestinian legislature elected in 2006. He recalls how usually aggressive Israeli security forces stood back and let conflagration develop. He denies any collusion between his own camp and the Israelis, but says “they hoped we would become an alternative to the PLO.”
A year later, in 1984, the Israeli military received a tip-off from Fatah supporters that Sheikh Yassin’s Gaza Islamists were collecting arms, according to Israeli officials in Gaza at the time. Israeli troops raided a mosque and found a cache of weapons. Sheikh Yassin was jailed. He told Israeli interrogators the weapons were for use against rival Palestinians, not Israel, according to Mr. Hacham, the military affairs expert who says he spoke frequently with jailed Islamists. The cleric was released after a year and continued to expand Mujama’s reach across Gaza.
Taking into consideration the fact that Israel has provided military and medical support to the most bloodthirsty and brutal Islamic extremist terrorists in the world and the fact that it has created Hamas from the very beginning, the answer to the question of “Why aren't organizations like Nusra, al-Qaeda, and ISIS attacking Israel?” is quite simple – because Israel is partly responsible for funding and directing them.

With all of this in mind, any claims of victimhood by Israel should immediately be discarded. Indeed, this portrayal of self-defense and endangerment should especially be discarded when one considers the history of the state itself.

Israel has made its own enemies by virtue of its colonial nature, its foreign and domestic policy, and even by direct organization and funding. It is thus wholly accurate to say that Israel’s enemies are literally those of its own making.

In the end, the information presented in this article is simply one more window into the realm of the Anglo-European-American-Israeli intelligence apparatus and the depths to which the rabbit hole goes in terms of international terrorism. The script which is being acted out across the Middle East and the rest of the world is clearly being directed by a force unseen by the vast majority of the world’s population.

Still, the players act out their roles according to the predetermined narrative provided to them, despite the fact that they have no idea they are actually acting out the will of a shadowy “other” who does not have their best interests at heart.

In this game, virtually all of those acting out their parts on the ground are merely players unaware of their roles.

Western Support for Israeli Genocide
& the War against Caliphate
Dr. Firoz Mahboob Kamal
Western Support for the genocide

The most genocidal crimes on earth were not committed by a few war criminals. The perpetrators were always huge; and they enjoyed massive moral, political and military support from their people. In two World Wars, the European nations killed more than 70 million people and destroyed hundreds of cities and millions of homes. But the killers and the planners of the most genocidal World Wars in human history are still celebrated as war heroes. Taking part in such heinous war crimes is marked as patriotism and has become the part of the national culture. Hence Hitler need not burn the Jews in gas chambers by his own hands: he had millions to do that. In such a culture of colonialism, imperialism, ethnic cleansing, even the war criminals that dropped atomic bombs on Japanese cities for a wholesale murder are not condemned either. They too got their place in the US history as war-hero. The modern history has been reduced to mere propaganda works of the winning war criminals. The medieval Mongol killers did not enjoy such a good luck. In such moral, cultural and ideological perversion, the occupation, destruction and genocide in Afghanistan and Iraq are not reckoned as war crimes; rather still celebrated in the USA, Europe, Australia and Canada as a part of the democratisation process. People from 40 NATO and non-NATO countries joined the US aggression to perpetuate those war crimes there. For the same reason, the Israeli genocide in Gaza is not condemned in the ruling circles of the west. Rather, these crimes enjoy full political, moral and military support. Every bullet and every missile that are used to kill children and women in Gaza and destroy its hospitals, houses and schools are made with the money from the USA and other western partners. Hence it is impossible to condemn the Israeli atrocities in the UN or any international forums.
The moral collapse of the west has reached its lowest ebb; support for Israel’s genocidal war is the clear proof. Such a massacre and destruction received licence as Israel’s security right. Such moral collapse doesn’t come alone; rather breed a special brand of character, behaviour and attitude. This is why these imperialists cannot survive without wars of occupation, exploitation, genocide, Guantanamo Bay, Abu Gharib, water boarding, carpet bombing and drone attacks. Adolf Hitler was not the only criminal who could mobilise his countrymen to commit massive war crimes. Netanyahu could do, too. But President Barak Hussein Obama and other US presidents could add a global dimension to such crimes, especially against the Muslims. President Obama showed his special venom against the Muslims: which is quite natural in murtads who retrieve from Islam to non-Islam. President Obama could take the weapons of mass destruction more than 6 thousands mile away from the US border. The Nazi killing machines were mostly contained within the boundary of Europe. The children and women of Pakistan, Afghanistan, Somalia, Yemen and Iraq did not drop any bomb or commit any crime on the US soil. But President Obama’s war planes and un-manned drones have already killed thousands of the innocent children, women and other civilians in those distant countries of Asia and Africa. Such a serial killer of global dimension has been identified as a figure of moral highness in the west and accepted as their leader. What an irony, such a war-hungry man has been honoured by Noble Prize for peace.
The anti-Islamic bias
Moral collapse always gets its brutal expressions through politics, culture, warfare and foreign relations. The west’s moral collapse thus could induce strong political, economic and military support not only for Israel, but also for all barbaric regimes of the Middle East. Hence brutal monarchs of Saudi Arabia, barbaric killer like General Sisi of Egypt and other tyrants are their closest ally. The western imperialists are now forging alliance with another brutal killer like Bashar al-Assad. Basher al-Assad has killed about 200,000 people in Syria, and used chemical weapon and is now dropping barrel bombs. In its recent war in Gaza, Israel has already massacred more than 2 thousands people and destroyed more than 20 thousands houses. About 10 thousands people are injured. About 75% of the dead and the injured are the children and women. Israel’s policy is clear. Occupying foreign lands, genocidal cleansing of the occupied land of its original people and continual increase of its geographical size are the fundamental elements of its policy. Israel could not do it alone unless received moral, political, economic and military support from the USA. The barbaric tyrants of the Middle East couldn’t survive either if the US protection was withdrawn.
For the west, establishing even the most brutal form of medieval monarchy is not a crime; rather morally acceptable. Hence, the Saudi monarchy with its barbaric suppression of basic human rights has been taken as the closet ally. It is not a crime either to launch a brutal military coup against a democratically elected government. Therefore, the military coup in Egypt against elected President Muhammad Morsi was warmly accepted in the US and Europe. But they consider it a great crime to establish an Islamic caliphate on prophetic tradition! The west is not ready to reconcile with the Qur’anic beliefs and Islam’s political roadmap. Sharia, jihad and jijiya and other Qur’anic prescription in any Muslim land is totally unacceptable to them. With the declaration of khilafa, the Muslims have crossed the red line that the west has drawn against them. Hence, they have started the war.
The old crusade revived
The imperialists never do war to save other people. They don’t have friends; only have strategic and imperial interests even in countries thousands of miles away from their border. They do wars to protect those interests. In such wars, they need subservient collaborators who could help them secure their gains. The US governments –like other imperialists do not hide those facts. Hence President Barack Hussain Obama could candidly say that the USA has strategic interest in Mosul Dam and northern Iraq. He could also reiterate that the USA will do everything to save those interests. And whoever supports its war, the USA supports them too. Like Israel, the newly established autonomous Kurdistan has turned out to be another launching pad for the imperialists in the heart of Muslim Middle East. Since Islam provide the most powerful ideological force for fighting against the aggressors, the imperialists have turned their guns against Islam too. Hence the US war has emerged as a full-scale religious war -in fact a new Crusade against the Muslims.
President Barak Obama has recently discovered some humanitarian causes to justify his barrage of air strikes against the Islamic state. Alleged killing of the Yazidies in the Northern Iraq is used as the pretext. If President Obama has any concern about saving innocent people then the US would have stopped military aid for Israel. After the World War II, horrendous destruction and genocidal massacre is not taking place around Mosul Dam or against the Yazidies in northern Iraq. It is taking place for more than a month against the people of Gaza. The killing of the innocent people in Gaza and destruction of its physical infrastructure are massive. One does not need to be a saint to protest against those crimes. But the US imperialists and their partners in the west didn’t show iota of moral strength to condemn that; rather showed continuous support. The Yazidies nationalists do not want establishment of an Islamic state in the area. Therefore conflict between ISIS and Yazidies can’t be ruled out.
The imperialists’ ancient crusade against Islam and Islamic caliphate has never ended. It had only some pauses, and still continues with the same old agenda. Hence after the end of Soviet Union and so-called Cold War, NATO still finds reasons to exist and continue its wars. The first crusade ended with the occupation of the holy land of Jerusalem and Masjid-al-Aqsa -the first kiblah of the Muslims. During the first crusade, the enemies didn’t have any collaborators inside the Muslim land, the crusaders were exclusively European. Hence these foreign enemies couldn’t dismantle Islam’s fundamental institutions like khilafa, sharia, jihad and other elements of social fabric. But its twentieth century crusade has many slave fighters from the Muslim lands. The nationalists, monarchist, racists, atheists, secularists and opportunists worked side by side with them. Hence, during the First World War, they were very successful to dismantle Islam’s basic infrastructures. Therefore, caliphate, sharia, jihad all disappeared. They could also create a Muslim World of 57 chicken states.
The state-terrorism
Sovereignty of a state proportionately diminishes with the diminishing size of the country. Therefore, to diminish the moral, military and political might of the ummah, the Muslim World has been divided into 57 pieces. During their long colonial rule, the imperialists’ success to convert Muslims to Christianity is minimal. But their success to cause de-Islamisation cum cultural conversion of the Muslims is huge. Hence Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)’s Islam with khelafa, sharia, jihad, jijiya, and pan-Islamic brotherhood does not exist among these cultural converts. Neither does survive Islam’s social, cultural and educational policies in any of the 57 Muslim countries. In fact, the Qur’anic Islam has become alien in all Muslim lands. In reality, the Muslim countries have entered into the new phase of internal occupation under the home-grown enemies. In the name of nationalism, secularism, civil and military autocracy, monarchy these rulers are preventing any chances of revival of the original Islam. They are also committed to preserve the legacy of colonialism –the fragmentation of the Muslim World. The USA and other imperialists find their strategic interest only in sustenance of this imposed status quo.
Like colonialism, imperialism, nationalism, racism, capitalism, communism, ethnic cleansing, gas chambers, World Wars, water boarding, atomic bombs, drones, Guantanamo Bay and many other state-sponsored western vices, state terrorism too took its birth in the west. True Muslims have holy war called jihad, but no terrorism. Terrorism is the trade of the non-religious political thugs and the war criminals. When a Muslim land is invaded, jihad becomes a religious obligation on every Muslim of that country. But jihad doesn’t exist in the western vocabulary. Hence they renamed it as terrorism to fit their political agenda. Now they are imposing the same deceitful concoction of a holy Qur’anic terminology even in the Muslim World. The imperialists are proud of their highly modernised weapons of mass destruction. Due to possession of such sophisticated killing machines, they proved to be the most brutal terrorists in human history. Since the US is the champion of such killing machines -has become the most terrorising force on earth. At the arrival of the European terrorists in American soil the native Red Indians were so much terrorised that they moved from one end of the continent to another to save their life. In such a long and arduous migration from North America to South America, they had to cross tough terrains of mountains, forests, rivers and deserts. Hundreds of thousands of them died on the way. The brutal Mongol killers couldn’t think of such killing machines: hence couldn’t think of ethnic cleansing. But the modern imperialists could ethnically cleanse most of America, Australia and New Zealand of their original settlers. The wild animal stops killing if their belly gets full. But the imperialists’ greed is endless; therefore their war never ends. So, the culture of state terrorism still survives with full force. Therefore, suffering of the Iraqi, Syrian, Palestinian and many others are not going to end very soon.
Fake Islam and fake Muslims
Islam does exist in its original form as was in the prophet (pbuh)’s time. Neither do the Muslims. A fake Islam has taken its place. It has created a generation of fake Muslims, too. Islam that incorporates sharia, khilafa, jihad, jijiya and sovereignty of Allah SWT –these fake Muslims, like their imperialist mentors, call it extremism. These fake Muslims do not believe in sharia, jihad, khilafa, jijiya, sovereignty of Allah SWT and other Qur’anic concepts. Instead, those who try to revive Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)’s Islam, they label them as the political enemies. To physically eliminate the practitioners of Qur’anic Islam, they have emerged as the state terrorists. Under the rule of these state terrorists, the punishment for any revival effort for prophet’s Islam is either death or long imprisonment. The whole state apparatus are being used to annihilate the Islamists. These states have courts and laws. They have police and army. But these public institutions are used only to protect the tyrannical occupants of the states. Arresting, oppressing, even killing the political opponents are accepted as common political norm. They can kill hundreds of unarmed protesters on the street without any accountability –as happened in recent years in Cairo, Dhaka, and Damascus. To the imperialists, they have proven their worth as the custodians of the divided Muslim World. They have also shown their skills in suppressing the Islamists. Hence, the US Air Force and Naval Ships are ever-ready to protect these state terrorists. So, the US has returned back to Iraq and Kurdistan.
Even the most barbaric crimes of these state terrorists are ignored in western media and in its ruling circles. The imperialists are not ready to consider their crimes as crime either. Instead, the USA and other NATO countries are ready to extend all forms of political, financial and military supports to the perpetrators. General Sisi of Egypt, the monarchs of Saud Arabia and General Musharraf of Pakistan are the perfect example of state terrorism in the Muslim World. The Egyptian state-terrorists could kill more than 11 hundred unarmed people in Rabaa al-Adawiya square in Cairo in 2013. The Saudi tyrants could kill more than 4 hundred unarmed Irani hajis in the holy city of Makka in 1987. In 2007, the military dictator of Pakistan General Musharraf could destroy the Red Mosque in Islamabad; and the Army could kill 154 students of the attached girls’ madrasa. Such atrocities of the state terrorists never reduced their worth in the ruling circles of the west, rather enhanced their usefulness as reliable instrument of suppression of the Islamists. The western imperialists have developed a strong working partnership with these state terrorists to resist Islam’s revival. These imperialists are now begging partnership with the brutal killers of Syria – President Bashar al-Assad to stop emergence of Islam as a world power. According to the recent UN statistics released on 23/08/14, Bashar al-Assad has already killed 191 thousands people in Syria. He has caused catastrophic damage to the most of the Syrian cities, and displaced its population. To continue the killing and fight the Islamists, Bashar al-Assad is also begging the west’s assistance.
The ruling clans of the state terrorists could successfully replace Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)’s pan-Islamic Muslim brotherhood with narrow tribal, racial and nationalist bias and could also raise Berlin wall like boundary of divisions among the Muslims. They could also replace Islam’s sharia, khilafa, jihad, culture, education and economy with the kufr prescriptions of the imperialists. Allah SWT’s sharia laws are thus thrown into bins or remained confined only in books; and the kufr laws made by the imperialist enemies receive the highest respect in all courts. Was it possible to show such disrespect to Allah SWT’s laws in prophet time? Such an act of disrespect to sharia laws takes away one’s Muslimness and out-rightly makes him a murtad. It is an act of war against the sovereignty of Allah SWT. Secular or non-Islamic states thus have become industries to make such rebel murdats in Muslim land. And the secular states are the most sinful and damaging legacy of the kafir imperialists in the Muslim World.
Caliphate: Islam’s powerhouse
The political power of Islam does not emerge from mosques and madrasas; it emerges from the Islamic khilafa.  Khilafa is Islam’s recognised political infrastructure –established by the prophet (pbuh) himself and sustained and strengthened by his companions and maintained by the subsequent generations of Muslims. It is the most iconic institution of Muslim civilisation. Khilafa carries the symbolic package of Islam’s philosophy, power, institutions, judiciary, sharia, governance, unity, jihad and glory. It survived till 1924. It is an indispensable part of the Qur’anic roadmap. Every Muslim is a khalifa (viceroy) of Allah SWT.  And khelafa (caliphate) is the continuation of prophetic mission to fulfil Allah SWT’s vision.
Allah SWT has trillions of other creations to do His ibada – along with all-time devoted angels. In the holy Qur’an, Allah SWT reiterates His Own testimony that whoever and whatever exists in the universe and in havens praises Him. Hence Allah SWT has no shortage of creatures to do such tasbih, tahleel and ibada. But humans are exclusively created for other task: they have to become His khalifa (the political viceroys) on earth so that His laws and sovereignty overwhelm over faiths and deities. Allah (SWT) announced such vision of His Own in the assembly of angels. As Allah SWT’s viceroy on earth, Muslims’ politics is very inclusive: it must address everything that is pertinent to materialise Allah SWT vision on earth.  It entails guiding and managing the Muslims ummah’s statecraft, economy, judiciary, spirituality, education, culture, defence, commerce, foreign policy and other state and social affairs according to the Qur’anic roadmap. But a Muslims can’t discharge his duty as His political viceroys without the essential political infrastructure. Even a builder needs some tools to do his job. A Muslim’s job is to build a great civilisation –as was done by the early Muslims. In fact, Islamic caliphate is intended to provide such a political infrastructure and provide with the supportive environment. It is so crucially important that prophet Muhamad (pbuh) invested all the possible resources of the Ummah to build such a state from day one of his migration. About 70% of his companion had to sacrifice their lives to build it and protect it.
The enemies of Islam did not make any mistake to discover the real powerhouse of Islam. In fact, the enemies’ war against Islamic caliphate started from day one of its establishment. All non-Muslims of the Arabian Peninsula forged a grand coalition to launch a decisive war against this nascent state in Medina. Ten thousand tough Arab warriors were mobilised to destroy the small village state. The idol-worshipers of Makka and the Jews of Medina played the key role in the formation of such a broad coalition. But Allah SWT’s army descended on them in the form of fierce sandstorm to dismantle the enemies’ seize. They returned homes with deep frustration and never dared to come back again. In the Islamic history, it is known as war of ahjab (war of a coalition).
But the enemies’ dream for destroying Islam’s political powerhouse never died out: still survives with the same intensity. Hence, while invading the Muslim land in first Word War, the imperialists did not bother destroying any mosque or madrasa, but dismantled 13 hundred year old caliphate. In 1924, they could succeed with the help of Islam’s internal enemies like nationalists, monarchists, secularists, socialists and other cultural converts. When the Muslims lost caliphate, they also lost their political power and influence. Now the 1.3 billion Muslims look weaker than 55 million British. They do not have any say in any world body.  Now the enemies of Islam keep constant vigilance to stop its re-emergence. Hence the west’s enmity is not only against Abu Bakr Baghdadi –the newly declared khalifa; rather with any khalifa in any time! In fact, they have declared war against the very institution of khelafa. Can a true Muslim reconcile with such arrogance? They want to continue with the status quo of the Muslim world; and they call it stability. The Muslims could defend this Divine institution for 13 hundred years. But the failure of the modern day’s Muslims is catastrophic: not only did fail to defend it, but also failed to show minimum sanity to resurrect it.
Can USA win the war?
The US can start the war. But can they win the war? The US didn’t win its war in Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq. In its wars in Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq, the US had its huge land, navy and air power. They invested more time and resources in those wars than they did in World Wars. But now they have turned more cowardice.  They have decided not to bring the soldiers to the warfront in Iraq and Syria. Therefore, how can they win the war without troops on the ground? They have realised that winning the war against Islamic caliphate is impossible: hence focussed only to reduce its speed of rapid expansion. They have adapted a containment policy. They are now bombing only from high altitude, and flattening the houses and mountains and killing the innocents. Israel launched its war from air, land and sea. The Israeli war planes, tanks, artillery and the gunboats bombed day and night on the small city of Gaza for more than one month. In 50 days’ war, they could kill and maim thousands of civilians. They could also destroy houses, hospitals, mosques, schools and offices; but couldn’t destroy Hamas. They couldn’t dare enter the heart of Gaza. Their attempt was foiled by few hundred Hamas fighters; and lost more than 60 soldiers. Hence Israel couldn’t attain its stipulated target of dismantling Hamas. Rather Hamas has emerged much stronger and popular.
The US army too, don’t dare enter the caliphate territory on the ground. They can only drop bombs from the air and kills and maims thousands of innocents. That will only boil the blood of Muslims all over the world to explosion level; and will hugely enhance the new recruitment for the ISIS. Thirteen years’ bombing in Afghanistan could kill several hundred thousand innocent people and flatten hills and houses. But couldn’t finish Taleban: rather helped Taliban emerge much stronger and popular. The US’s new war against the caliphate is a clear proof that its leaders have learnt nothing from its defeats in previous wars in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan. They have failed to understand that it is not a war between two armies: rather the war between two ideologies. Can anyone win against Allah SWT’s ideology? It was easy to defeat Saddam or Gaddafi, but impossible to defeat the ideology of Islam. Pharaoh couldn’t do it in the past. The Persian and Roman Empires couldn’t do either. Can Obama do it now?
